Because it's so real. There are people who are so dead set about this idea of "dying for your country" and the fact soldiers aren't treated as people but replaceable pawns.... It's the fact that dehumanisation doesn't just happen when an opposing side looks at you but your own leaders can do that as well, hell, even bosses treat employees as if they aren't human if they disobey because it means defying and questioning authority. It really shows how flawed and cruel the mindset of army leaders are.
