What do you mean he is an Ally before and after? In the past he blackmailed her when he found out she is a fake. and in the present, Ren bullied her throughout her year in the academy. Only after she graduate and build her own power did he figure out her identity. I wouldn't call it quick.

So Veronica was poisoned by Ren and she started loosing status so they replaced her with Elana until Veronica was better. Veronica wakes up but Elana is doing really well and boosting her status loads so Veronica stays in waiting for a bit (some of this might be a bit inacurate but thats the main stuff)
