I’m telling yall that phone booth has to be helpful later on in the story. There was literally no reason for the author to put a phone booth in a random ass wheat field and specifically mention that it could help someone in need otherwise. I bet in the future Lau or Xin are gonna have to call someone for help or smth (maybe escaping the head family’s tower or smth?) and they need to use that phone booth. 99% sure that this is a chekovs gun, cuz the author has used plenty of those before.
