
I bet lian and her collateral line have something to do with all of this. Her line is the only one that hasn't yet been properly "investigated" by lau. I think in one of the chapters, the tattoo guy also mentioned that it was a tall guy with glasses that requested the tattoo to be done on Xin. Imo this can only be wei, aka lian's guardian.
Also tbh lian's whole character design screams puppeteer to me. Her starry eyes are used to make her seem very innocent and cartoony but other facts about her life contradict this. Her control over wei is certainly one aspect to show her more cunning side but again, this is mostly played for laughs and its not that different from the dynamic between other heirs and their guardians. What stands out to me about her is how its highlighted that she's actually a very savvy businesswoman and her fascination (maybe obsession?) with taxidermy. Idk if I'm reading too much into this, but imo the author's clearly hinting at something more sinister and calculating about her.
