We are upset because the mc seemed more unique before- like his expeessions (as you mentioned) had more emotion, and he had some beautiful eyelashes. I feel like it also got less unsettling :( I will still read it cause I find the plot on the more interesting side but it’s a bit of a shame that they changed the mc’s face.
