In my understanding links are simply humans that become immortal unless their vampire dies, also their bodies retain the state it was in when the contract has been made unless their vampire sucks their blood - which is why blonde was in constant pain for hundreds of yrs - he was in the brink of death when contract was made. Blonde's powers i think came from hundreds of years research about spells, if u noticed he wasnt physically fighting the other vampires but was holding them down with spells
