Well my understanding is that Rinko wanted Akari's daughters to be part of their new timeline so Akari went off with the man so that her daughters could be born, at the same time knowing that that man would eventually die at some point (like in the previous timelines). After his death they knew they would be together. For the sake of having Akari's daughters including Koharu (even tho they're not blood related) in their timeline.
The man was bound to die as you can see in chapter 7 leaving Koharu alone so it's actually a good ending. Koharu got to have a family instead of being left alone without mother and father.
Wait so the 2 girls still like eachother romantically?
1. I feel extremely bad for the mc but he needs to grow a bit more of a backbone 2. Mariko is waifu material and I really do hope they end up together
I love this, all the references to different thinns like dark souls, the weird comedy, the cute girls and the legend of an mc, I'd just wish they whould confess soon
