bro nobody will understand how hard I am crying right now
that ending and that final chapter hit me harder than ton of bricks
thank you so much author, your story taught us to not fall into the nihilistic mindset of life -- how our lives are meaningless or have no worth -- but instead you taught us to make meaning ourselves. Everybody interviewed at the end gave their answer, and while some were still in denial or rejected the question, it is those who smiled that were truly found their path. It is not that life either has no meaning or has meaning -- it is up to us to make that meaning :)
In a way, maybe the borderlands were created, as a way for individuals struggling with the question of meaning and the worth of their lives, to find the "answer". And as Aritsu found, the answer is that there is no answer. And so we should accept that and in this way find out own meaning through our own devices. (in anybody is interested in this idea, look up "positive nihilism")
so rather than slip into darkness, suffer in the past, and view life through bleak eyes, in a way the author and the borderlands is illustrating to us how we should keep growing, accepting, laughing, crying, smiling, and loving

I have a very bad feeling about those pills...
