so the mom was pregnant with twins but one of them died, only Jaewon survived, but Seo In is a carbon copy of his son and adopted him. From what I understand, she did this to overcome her grief of losing a child and Seo In is just a perfect substitute.

it’s because she’s shallow really. she cares but doesn’t care ENOUGH to want to do the right thing by punishing her ‘actual’ son. she just wants seoin to play the part of the twin, she doesn’t actually like him for him. otherwise she would’ve stood up for him. but that’s what happens when you make a rash, shallow decision- deep down she cares more about the brother exactly BECAUSE seoin is a replacement. we’re shown that she shows them both the same love but that love was never really reserved for seoin, equal love would mean that she would acknowledge what she KNOWS is happening. and she does like and obsess over him a lot. but she also doesn’t want to disrupt the flow of things and i guess is just praying for things to just smooth out naturally without having to get involved.. what a shitty and cowardly mother. sorry i went off on a tangent there lmao
