I mean the author is sick.....not really much translators can do in that case. And frankly, I prefer that the author get well than die like what happened to the author of Love Prism.

    Panstar March 28, 2018 7:39 am

    what.
    WHAT.
Maruya Kae died? are you kidding me. please tell me thats not the case.

    Lei March 28, 2018 2:38 pm

Hahaha, not her. Asami Tohjoh, who coincidentally authored a manga of the same name (Love Prism), died after an illness. Love Prism was one of the works that wasn't completed as a result of her passing in 2007.

    Sora March 28, 2018 4:19 pm

Omg I REMEMBER LOVE PRISM. That was one of my first yaoi's. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I remember being so shocked and sad when I learned that Asami Tohjoh died.

When the scanlation group, Exiled Rebels, mentioned that Moegi Yuu was ill I remembered Asami Tohjoh and I got very worried. I don't want to lose another great mangaka.

    Morcheeba March 28, 2018 10:51 pm

    Don't remind me ╥﹏╥
So many wonderful mangaka's out there who neglected their health to churn out more works and died one way or another.

These folks are just trying to do their job and look good while they're at it. They don't need some sexual predation by some loss-making higher up.

Lei March 1, 2018 5:58 am

Another sexual harassment story. Blackmailing the uke for what reason though.....if blackie is so confident, why doesn't he just sweep Yukinari off his feet in the wackiest manner?

More bewildering than anything.

Lei February 22, 2018 3:43 pm

Never noticed until someone pointed it out. The subtitle of the cover says "Therapist". But when I first looked at it, I had a slight clenching of the heart when I read "The Rapist".

Lei February 18, 2018 1:12 pm

Given what we know about the new doctor, I'm sure that the extra large bottle of detergent is exactly that.....

Lei February 14, 2018 8:44 am

This is the first time I'm seeing people working together to protect someone in this situation. Normally, everyone just fucks off and it's either the seme or uke pulling off a solo effort.

Lei February 13, 2018 8:42 am

The easiest way to sum up my feelings is that I hate all of them.

    Anonymous February 14, 2018 12:16 am

    true

    daallday February 28, 2018 8:14 pm

But you also want them to be happy too right? Happy in their own messed up little worlds where they can't bother regular people.

Lei February 12, 2018 2:17 pm

And so they say, the good die young.

It would be a waste to miss a perfectly good opportunity for tasty food. Just think about everything men miss out if that stereotype held true. Ice cream, tiramisu, cheesecake, mochi, candy, pies, bubble tea, and so on.

Good food is good. Nothing manly or unmanly really ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

To be honest, the best thing to happen is if Yeonduk stopped caring the moment the Skylar's mother laid out those threats. It is clear that he only continues this farce of a relationship because of the money, having long wanted to cut ties with Skylar since whatever horrible scenes happened in middle school. His love for Skylar fades in and out, and so can be considered secondary to his desire for self-respect and hatred. Yeonduk should really grow a thicker backbone and let his mother can his sister feel as much of the pain as he suffers. That might not sound fair, but if they are truly family, they would've asked what is wrong a long time ago and understand the situation.

From Skylar's point of view, Yeonduk is an extension of his mother. Although Yeonduk may not see it this way (trying to set Skylar on the right track), it is very clear that Skylar understands that Yeonduk and his family are being bought by his mother. In Skylar's mind, Yeonduk exists as someone to be used to get back at his mother. Yeonduk's feelings and wellbeing don't matter if Skylar can feel free. I personally think that Skylar's version of freedom is stupidly self-destructive. He doesn't want to be compared to his superstar sister or obedient brother, yet he does the exact opposite of is needed and goes down the path that will make his mother become even more overbearing.

If Yeonduk really doesn't want to stoop down to Skylar's level, I would suggest cutting all ties with anyone as necessary and letting Skylar crash and burn under the weight of his own faults. Right now, Yeonduk acts like a vengeful boyfriend/girlfriend.

i completely agree, i think maybe skylar overheared his mother talk about how she pays yeonduk family bills and things in exchange for yeonduk watching over skylar and make sure he stays out of trouble.
Skylar's mother dont really want to be a mother at all i think or he just reminds her of his father to much.I think thats why she pays for things for yeonduk family cause she knows yeonduk's mother can not pay her back, so on return she help take care of skylar, which falls to yeonduk.
all in all i the yeonduk needs to leave skylar alone and forget about revenge.Letting skylar realise the he was not pretending to be his friend for the money but actually cared for skylar. That would be the best revenge.

    Denzil January 18, 2018 7:20 am

YES. I don't want Yeonduk to be this person! Which is probably why the author added in the new guy in order to help Yeonduk.

I notice everyone on this thread is American (I’m American myself). I mention this because from a Korean perspective, the situation is a little stickier. Yeonduk isn’t roped in by the money, or at least not directly. It’s his duty to his mother to repay her dear friend (whether her dear friend is a manipulative leech is beside the point). And he can’t cut them off, because of his mother. If he tried, he might damage the “friendship” between their mothers, and that’s not something many Korean people would be willing to do without a VERY good reason and hard evidence to back it up. Being visibly (at least visible to the families) anti-Skyler would be perceived as an affront to Skyler’s whole family. If he tried to talk about this with his own mother, it could come off as very insulting (i.e., like he was calling his mother stupid for not realizing something someone much younger was able to see).

I know it’s easy for us as Americans to think, why can’t he just be straightforward about all of this? Why can’t he just tell his mom that Skyler is a manipulative douchebag and that they’re being used? But Koreans are much less willing (and a lot of the time, as in this case, much less able in the context of their culture) to confront others directly. That’s why Yeonduk is doing all of this stuff, because he has to work within certain cultural confines. He has to be subversive of the current power structures, and he’s doing that, as you said, by allowing Skyler to crash and burn. He’s just facilitating the whole process. Anyway, that’s why I feel much more satisfied reading this than I would reading the same story in an American context.
