There is a difference between punishment and abuse. My father used to lock me in the garage or have me kneel outside in the middle of the night. But it was for good reasons, and I'm pretty grateful now. Nah, I think it is entirely right that the author can demand it. It is her work. And like musicians, this would be the equivalent of Torrenting music or using Pirate Bay. I'm part of that camp that thinks that if I cannot read it, say oh well then move on.
