I thought the same and I really think immortality could be his reason for using a witch and his son with a witch like that.
Here is my theory:
Bella (beheaded witch) said, she had that "one incident" with Sigmund. That could mean that Sigmund may be Noah's father. Noah rn is a "shell" (an unawakened wizard) that needs its parent's soul to fully awaken.
If Sigmund truly is Noah's biological father, then there's a possibility that doing this "ritual" might let them switch bodies and souls(?) (parent becomes child, child becomes parent).
With this, Sigmund (as now 'child') could absorb Noah's soul (as now 'parent'), and Sigmund would (re?)awaken his powers as a wizard in Noah's body; Noah however, might die when his soul gets absorbed.
As a result, Sigmund would be in Noah's young body, he will have the power and status to become emperor and fulfill his goal.

However, there is a slight problem with this theory. According to Lena (Charlotte's mother), their powers would only reawaken when they truly fall in love AND absorb their parent's soul.
If Sigmund enters Noah's body, wouldn't Sigmund still need that requirement of falling in love before he gets to absorb his "parent's" soul and reawaken? Would Noah's love for Charlotte be counted as well since Sigmund would be using his body? This one seems like a stretch, so Idk

As I sent that, I just realized how I over-complicated the scenario. This ritual might just let them change bodies. Noah's soul might just become trapped while Sigmund takes over Noah's body (like how Taehoon's body occupies 2 souls in, him and Bella's)
Sigmund who is now in Noah's body could obtain his wish of becoming the emperor, since Noah is an emperor-candidate.
I enjoy reading different theories, over-complicated or not. So it was welcomed :)

yeah i was thinking along both those lines too but then i also had a 3rd ridiculous idea - what if none of that applies because he's a male? because he's a wizard and not a witch so he didn't have to carry the child and transfer his life force to it? (since if he is bella's child - she seemingly had that role covered.) and as for the love activation part i had some other horrid thoughts; what if he's got some dark love towards heinrich? or had one towards lady bella (and even though it's years later it counts)? but i honestly think in his case it'd be self love, lol. huge narcissist. i really can't see him loving another "person". it's all cray and i can't wait to see what it really is, sob.
It is quite a theory you had lol xD but none of this is possible since Lena explained that the father's or the mother's life force/soul should go to the newborn child so they can become a witch/warlock. The parent's powers and soul is what gives them the power. She also states that it could be the father's soul tho it is less common. And Sigmund made pretty clear he has and never had feelings for either Heinrich nor Bella. He only made that to Heinrich as part of his ritual to control his mind and I think the same goes for Bella(but not to control his mind tho. His intentions with her remain without explanation till the present moment)

MC is a village girl who goes to the city with her parents and reunites with the rest of their family. flash forward to latest ch (21) she's suddenly like oh no the boy i love is clan leaders son which means he's my brother! we are siblings! I cannot love him! out of nowhere...what happened to your parents? where is this coming from?? and it's even worse because it's supposed to be mid battle and she's swooning left and right. she keeps flopping over and her supposed brother keeps picking her up, catching her, supporting her, etc. AS THE POOR NOOBS GET BLASTED AROUND THEM?? it's beyond out of place. one second she's all strong and determined to fight and win the next she's become a human noodle thinking about her "brother".
Talk about stereotyping she looses her strength if your good looking the author must be a guy to make that her weakness!!
