The sardine pie was a bait to see how whoever broke into her home and looked at her menu would mess with her food. She deliberately left sardine pie’s recipe where it could be easily found. Then she’ll see who approaches the stinky pie and that would be the culprit. Because no one else would approach stinky food unless they had some ulterior motives.
That’s how she caught Christina so quickly. Because she was expecting Christina to approach and add something to her food after she had tried to do the same to the pie.
