My theory is that the black haired woman we see in ch. 2 briefly could have been his demon mother, her pupils are slightly vertical so I can't be sure, and in ch. 1 we could assume those creepy hands are hers. So maybe she despises his existence or something, idk, but then maybe she died by MC's hands and placed a curse in him (something along the lines that you are a cursed being and you'll bring ML pain and suffering) to make MC miserable and unhappy. And maybe ML's father and brother died just after that "curse" was placed on MC and he blamed himself because he had refused leaving his side ╮(￣▽￣)╭ but idk just my theory
