I see the story going one of two ways:
1. Azuma has been in love with him and was looking for a reason to get close. He keeps up the pretense of practice until Kota eventual starts talking to girls. Then he gets so jealous he confesses.
2. Some kind of misunderstanding plot where Kota thinks Azuma got a gf so he asks to stop the practice and they mope for 5 ch before talking it out.
