I agree with some of this but I definitely do not think that he did this because he wants to fuck the wife lol nor because he was jealous of Akitora and his wife's loving bond. He's really only jealous of Uichi's abilities and feels insecure because of him. I do think he wants Uichi out because he brings out rebellion within Akitora but I think that's understandable. It's clear that this rebelliousness is not really doing any good for the group/Akitora and is instead just potentially dangling them off a cliff. Both Akitora's and his group's life are at threat because of it.
To be fair tho, Akitora did say he did not want the job. And everyone knew his intentions when he was forced to take it ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ and I don't think he solely wants wifey but more like the life he has bc he was all like "how could he do this to her? IF IT WERE ME...." The best way for me to describe him is the older siblings who was told to give the controller to the younger sibling. And they see them messing up, and getting the character killed. They see everything they're doing as wrong, and even though they want to take the controller back and win the game for them, they can't. "Let the baby play the game" "show him, but don't do it for them" "if they mess up, let them be; they'll learn." Unfortunately for Asoda, Uichi and Akitora never actually mess up. They always get out of it somehow. The only reason why things are really starting to fall apart now is bc of Asoda double crossing Uichioo I pitied Asoda at first- now its just pure hate.
