In chapter 6 Ifris literally says “We are divided into female and male simply by appearance only.” So it makes sense that Elqueeness keeps calling Ifris female since her outward appearance looks to be more female.
(She also wears heals while the more “male” looking King’s wear sandals or flat shoes)
But this could also just be a bunch of mumbo jumbo because Elqueeness also looks female, so I guess it’s more personal preference. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
