I honestly don't get the hate towards the mc, I kinda dislike him for not pushing through with the murder case but can't blame him tho. She is his adopted mother, he is unstable too. They are both unstable, which is sad but I can't hate any of the character, but sometimes they kinda annoying lol. I hope they both seek help professionally and I hope they'll received peace of mind in the end

No he was shocked about henry kissing and confessing to him. He was angry I guess as well. Flustered cause he never noticed and things suddenly made sense. And I mean being kissed against your consent isn’t nice no? Especially when you are in love with your partner. Anyway. So he left that day angry and went to see Janet to say godbye to tell her everything and then say goodbye to her. Janet thought he went to Henry to tell him everything is ok and he isn’t upset or leaving because of him, but because he just really wants to participate. Because back then men were always tricked by some fucked up romanticism to lure them into fighting in wars even though wars were no longer necessary for just sheer survival but plain business at that point. Anyway. So Henry was traumatised by the war badly. And he went into fits whenever he saw Henry. Not because he wanted to. Or meant what he said. He was having fits due to the ptsd. Men like this will do this to their loved ones. Is very common that soldiers and veterans abused their family. All cause their ptsd went untreated and unsupervised. Anyway. As we know dude was a really good guy, so when he regained a moment of clarity I guess he hated himself so bad for all the things he did at the war and he now did to Henry that he couldn’t bear it and he found a gun at that moment and ended his suffering. If he didn’t find one and people helped him through the suicidal urge he might have survived…
and as we find out in the end, he is just a dumb idiot who got even dumber from the ptsd
Just 2 things I didn't like about this is the incest and the rape. Overall it's a good read

I've read a lot of stories where the seme is obsessive/possessive but all of them are just pure jerk. Like they want the uke for themselves but still cheats or doing something unforgivable to uke. somehow the seme here is far way better at least he is faithful.

I don’t think kinard liked Judith romantically; it was the devon & judith who liked each other (kinard also knows/confirms this bc he gives Devon a ring that Judith probably wanted to give her. The stone is alexandrite (?) which I think might be related to Devon’s middle name or something. Anyway it’s complicated but basically I’m sure kindard + judith were mostly friends c: idk about the marriage tho they don’t go into detail about it tbh. But stuff becomes clearer later in the story (I’m bad at explaining stuff)
It’s when someone uses someone else as a replacement for someone who’s not available anymore. In the case of this story, kinard using louis as a replacement for Judith (he doesn’t actually though.. it just seems this way but stuff gets cleared up, or at least it does for me)
