I meant the parents in these stories in general. They're all conveniently missing most the time. The ones here also only show up from time to time

Most Japanese and Korean ones are ok (with exceptions like Swear I won't bother you and Fell in love with my younger sister instead or Death is the only way for the villain. They need social services!!) The the ones that take the cake are Chinese stories. The parents outward starve them, allow the servants to lock them up, feed them nothing or rotton food, and even try to marry no, pimp them out to rumored old and demonic men. Ugh I'm angry just remembering it (╬￣皿￣) Still, I wasn't talking about this story in particular. Just in general
Oh yeah.
Instead of getting angry I usually just laugh cause it's obvious they're trying to make a sad backstory to pull at the readers heartstrings and make them more invested- the problem is that they're all the same and so ridiculously similar it's facepalm-worthy.
Seriously. So I usually just roll my eyes and just move on and see if it at least have a decent plot.
These are the manhwas- they also use that trope in novels with female protags , usually in the transmigrarion or reincarnation genre. Some abandoned embress(not the Korean one, I'm just saying overused names) here, forgotten concubine there, useless six miss over there and stuff like that. And they're usually allll the same. Tho there, it's also pretty popular to *gasp!* Discover those "slags" weren't your true parents in the first place!
But these people are hardly even worth calling parents.
What does get on my nerve is when horrible parents are treated like good ones.
Absent ones- not like the ones in this case, a different kind of absent- who ignore their children in favour of wasting away grieving, or even hate them because their mothers died at birth- those for example, even though it all ends up fine and dandy, are a breeding ground for bad things just waiting to happen. Be it in the form of no parental figure growing up(increadibly harmful), no love at all( SUPER harmful) or even genuinely wishing they were never born and blaming themselves for their mothers death(I don't even need to say anything about this one, do I)
