He did have it implanted a year back from current timeline but his actual purpose of asking for the sperm was for research only and as for the birth he had the womb/ egg taken out after 5 or 6 months(i don't remember it's been a while since i read the novel) and then the baby grew in an incubator cause male body can't Stretch for a child
