I've seen a lot of threads and discussions about this topic and in fact, it is again discussed here in this manga. So, here is my two cents:

Speaking from a personal view, I think that it's safe to say that NO ONE, not even people who take interest in literature which expose the dark side of men, myself included, SUPPORT nor ENJOY the act of rape in itself. I also agree that there are mangas and manhwas which depict rape as something enjoyable and that it may paint a crude understanding of what rape actually is, which is a crime-no more, no less. With that being said, to point out the interest of a person and to condemn their interests based on your own morality is prejudicial, if not hypocritical. The works of manga and manhwa artists are considered art and literature; to suggest that we should limit literature and art to a certain circle is preposterous. Are you suggesting that artists, mangas and manhwas alike, stick to the glamour of life? the beauty of love? the goodness in people? Are those the only things that affect life? Is everyone affected with these things mutual in their understanding? Not everyone experience the same things and react to the same things as you. People have their reasons for making art and who are we to say that their reasons are wrong? Same to the people who partake in these arts by reading them or supporting the author; are you suggesting that because we read these types of manga,we act on the crimes being portrayed? Is it not acceptable now to view life in its dark aesthetic?

I give you my reason for reading them: because I like seeing humanities' fall. I like reading about the ability and the extent of a human to do deplorable things. It gives me a whole different perspective as to how humans work, both from the characters perspective and the artists perspective. Do I agree with them or not? Am I like them or not? Do I know someone like this or not? These works allow me to understand much more about the world and myself. However, I stand on my morals: rape is and forever will be deplorable no matter the context. Even if drawn in a stylize manner, I will not waver. I know it is wrong. Nevertheless, I will continue supporting art which depict darkness of humanity (cruelty, rape, murder, incest, you name it, I've probably read one manga or book about it) because it reflects the extent of what a human can do, and as a human being myself, is it wrong to find out more about myself?

And that, is my (long) opinion about the matter. （￣へ￣）

reading a lot of these reincarnation stories, i have learned a thing or two from them:


1. Be careful when you're walking home- be wary of traffic (accidents), ex boyfriends, etc

2. Read a damn good novel that has a FAVORABLE ENDING for all characters.
