ive only read small bits and parts but one thing that is kind of weird is the side couple because usually authors wait until the main couple conflict is resolved to continue the 2nd or they develop the 2nd couple in the side stories but here the side couple is kinda just placed awkwardly in the story timeline
I don’t think the author was expecting the side couple to be popular. Trying to gauge what readers are actually tuning in for can make or break a series. Giving both center stage was a safer bet

That could be possible but it did say that the dog dude is a guard for the farm, plus he seemed to know that the chicken dude is really to produce the eggs because the dog dude had sniffed him before leaving, which is probably how the scientist dude or wtv found out
