Did the series follow the manga storyline?
I think some of it. They added characters in the series so there might be a lot of changes in plot.

I'm two years late to answer but I'll reply in case anyone else wants to know.... So season two of the anime ends around chapter 55 but they changed a major plot point for the story going forward so reread 55. But if you really want to see all the changes and missing stories the anime left out then start from chapter 36.

I have not read it... I think it starts at the end of chapter 35 but not much is showing from what I heard. It could be a few chapters before it goes back to them.
