And she was like "poverty is not a justification". And you know something? She is right. Yes since I am reading this here I am a thief. So are you. If I don't have enough money, I don't buy-read. So if you are poor, can't afford an iphone, it is ok to steal one if the power is out and the cameras won't record you in a store? When someone has to choose between eating and reading, while they don't have the money to buy and eat but they can sit at the gate of a school and feed off the free wifi and they still turn to a book — that’s not theft, that’s survival. She shouldn't blame people for reading on free sites. Blame the system that puts a price on knowledge and limits wealth to a privileged few. and yes she worked very hard, very hard indeed to make this book. But if her wealth is money only and not a sad lifed teenager who got the best feeling out of this book maybe she should just stop being a story maker all together.
When you have to choose between eating and reading, you normally don't have time to read such crap to pass your time. If you have time to waste in a period of starvation , you're just stupid and what she says is true. If you have time to waste reading this kind of thing when you're poor, then you also have money to spend because time makes money. Find another job, get help.

Exactly. She's right, we are in the wrong, and tbh I own up to it. I'm reading illegally, I won't pretend there's some noble justification to it. And I won't resent her for crashing out (tho I do resent anyone saying people should die), especially considering how much importance we put in respecting artists and not stealing art, but when it comes to manga, it's suddenly all free game.
Still, I'll keep reading. There's nothing else I can do, I can't afford it, so it's irrelevant whether I keep reading in pirate sites or not because I wouldn't be giving the author any money either way.
