I really appreciate how the author kept growing Uke’s (Nao?) stubbles because it’s so realistic to what’s normal. And Eric’s nose protrusion makes him really look Caucasian, love those details.
I tried so hard to like these two together, but the blue-haired SEME doesn’t have anything about him that I can hold on to for an emotional connection. He’s deliberately creepy, manipulative, and insistent. I think I could like him more if there was a more realistic progression in his character growth, but it just happened right after the green-haired UKE dropped the news of his residency. Am I missing something here? I'm genuinely asking why people like this couple, let alone prefer them over the main couple.

Exactly, there was nothing to like other than perhaps their “relationship” happened quicker than the main couple, and I can't believe that’s enough for many people if it were true. Sometimes, I find this trope even worse than pairing the spare. While it is realistic that we all fight different demons, I still feel that the characterization of the blue-haired seme was rather forced. It didn't feel as natural. Rather it felt like an afterthought, especially since there was no build-up that he would be this way. Even if we were to overlook this, since that could have been a writing error, wouldn’t it be better to allow more organic growth for his character? Yet, that doesn’t happen either. This couple is like soup with all the ingredients simply thrown in without being mixed properly. There’s all the intensity but no actual flavor.
