Both deserve be happy. The og merhen deserves to at least be happy after what happened and ml tried his best to understand her but failed. She's was grieving over her dead child, for me it's like he's choosing second best and I hate those types of relationships. But we'll we all know they are going to end up together. So I'm looking forward to the big improvements. :)
