I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HE DOES!! why does he harvest/hunt down spirits from train commuters. I just know he's gonna be important to plot. It's in the way that it's a routine thing for him to just appear and do the same thing every time. Plus the fact that a spirit can jump out and fight back, no matter how feeble of an attempt it may be. There's just no way it's not relevant at all. I want her to come with the old shaman and Rom to the train, just so we can see what they see.

Ohh if dark magic uses blood as a conduit then it makes sense that it activated to track Yurina bcs of the scratch Emily gave her using the earing. Maybe whoever she's working with made a copy of Yurina's earrings, only half is made to basically act as a lure and the other to control or be attracted to the other half.
I reread that chapter. You are right but the missing pair of earing was suppossed to be worn on the hunting but Emily lost it (chap 66). Now we know she gave it to someone.

Plus, Ray legit pulled the same move. He even knew just when to appear so he can protect her. I bet she died or something and then Ray went crazy bcs of it so he travelled back through time to warn his past self or atleast see her again.
It's just a prediction based on popular tropes.
But I'm curious about the importance of their eye colors, maybe its just an aesthetic choice to make them gloew or standout more for tense scenes. What if purple eyed Ray is actually their future child, lol that'd be funny if he was. But it'd also make sense if it's just something related to magic use.
He could've asked why Samsami was alone, that would've been a lot more relevant compared to the other questions but I guess that would've taken out too much drama from the plot.
Another possible reason is that he's so distraught over the upcoming reality that Samsami will be leaving soon that it just slipped his mind
