If I knew how to post pictures as comments I'd definetely be putting child Okaya and Maria side by side. They look damn near identical. One is unhinged for revenge while the other we have absolutely no clue about besides the fact that he's been doing this for far longer than any of us knew
Imagine that the plot twist is that Okaya is her real son and they were swapped at birth. He found out, that's why he's been bullying him so mercilessly. I mean, Maria and Okaya's manipulative and Psycho personalities are pretty damn mirrored

And that would kinda skew the whole relationship between the protag and her son which at least I think is a major theme (motherly love.. even tho toxic lol) that wouldn’t be touched in terms of writing and plot…
Yeah, I understand that it's not enough incentive to be bullying someone but anyone in this story doesn't have enough incentive to be doing whatever they are, no matter for what reason. It's just a crazy theory that came to mind There's still a lot of things we don't know about Okaya himself so theories help increase the tension
Yea incentive is a bad word choice I was thinking more like thought process (?) or connection (??) because (honestly it’s been a while since I read the other chapters so correct me if I’m wrong but) the other characters that were explored, even though insanely and unreasonably vicious, all had some sort of line of reasoning behind their actions .. but yea i totally agree.
