Actually, I had the same thoughts and was fantasizing that Neo-san really does go back to the future he originally came from and find out that he was actually being invited to his own wedding with Maki-senpai (meaning Senpai wasn't such a sc**-sh**) and there really wasn't anyone else in the first place or something like that...
But when I read the future that Author-san made, I think it made sense, too. Changing the past changes the future and all that about paradoxes.
Though, that separate timeline idea was really appealing, right, since it's true what you said that Neo and Neo-san seemed like different people.
