I feel like it had much much more impact as a one-shot.
And later as much as the first couple of chapters were promising, I really hated the ending. It doesn't explain nor resolve anything.
Hoshihiko reunites with his love in heaven - cute. But so what? Why did he stay on Earth after Chapter 0? And why could they see him? Why do we learn about Waki's SUPER TRAUMATIC past in like 1 speech bubble? Where is the chemistry between Waki and the wacky-ass-Glasses-kun?
And I guess the most important question: WHY IS WAKI ON THE BOTTOM ?????
Yeah. Essentially I think that the one-shot (Ch.0) made me crave more but at the same time, I made peace with it being a short story. But then, consecutive chapters awoke this hunger for more, much much more. Perhaps because it was unexpected. And as they gave me something, I became greedy.
And what they gave me, was not enough. The hype bar was too high perhaps.
You know what I think is behind my disappointment? I guess I expected:
a) a monster-of-the-week kind of vibe with some unspoken tension between Hoshi and Waki, but nothing concrete. Based on the vibe that Ch.0 has. You know. More of a ghost story series with some gay shit underneath the surface.
b) what they did with Stigmata. They took a story that had this undergoing sexual tension (like the Ch.0) and turned it into a fully realized and thought-through BL with a fantastic plot and fleshed-out characters.
ughhhh... I just.... I just feel things right now.

Really agree with you. Rika came out of the blue. Don't care about positions and all though. Monster of the week and slow building tension with the ghost and the MC would literally be perfect. Exactly right that Stigmata nailed it. Don't want to complain too much though because the art and characters were fantastic which is rare in bl, I know my standards are low but you gotta take what you can get.
