First of all, i don’t enjoy romance aspect in these type of action stories at all so my personal preference is influencing my feelings a bit. But also isn’t Jiwoo a minor?? Or was a minor when he met Jiyoung. Im 18 myself and this is just me but dating smn like Jiyoung, who at the youngest is probably 21 is still kind of weird. I do enjoy that they have properly developed relationship that establish their dynamic but it’s still icky to me.
Gestella and Kayden for example, both their strength level and their level headedness are on the same wavelength so i don’t mind it as much, even though i still don’t particularly enjoy romance in action stories, but jiyoung seems so much more mature than jiwoo. Not to mention he’s her younger brother’s friend. Idk maybe im being sensitive, i feel weird seeing them in a ‘relationship’.

Ok so i googled who tf naritoshi is, and to check if he’s actually smn who lived during the irl nobunaga’s era to check how he might affect the plot but apparently he’s ranmaru???

So, I googled your question, apparently changing names was very common for men in feudal Japan, especially for samurai. Basically they believed that when a baby is born they have a "youth name" and when they come of age they are given an "adult name". For samurai, they often received a name given by their lord/patron, some going as far as receiving new family names (of course this involved politics, being named by someone important could be the symbol of forming an alliance, and someone from a despised/unimportant clan was more likely to take on a new surname to shed the reputation). So it wasn't weird for samurai to have 2 or 3 names (Tokugawa Ieyasu had like 4, his childhood one, 2 from his patron bc he didn't like the first one and changed one character to match his family's traditional names, and one more after his patron died, to symbolize he was independent). My guess is that Naritoshi is Mori Ranmaru's (the historical figure) childhood name, and he received his adult name from Nobunaga upon becoming his retainer, but in the manga when Nobunaga met our Ranmaru he ended up giving him the name instead (it makes more sense why he felt so entitled to give Ranmaru a name back then now, since he was taking him in)
Oooh so in a sense our Ranmaru isn’t actually the historical one but kind of replaced him and took his name before the actual ranmaru showed up??? Since Naritoshi is the one who was supposed to be Ranmaru but instead his whole historical position is now our mc’s??? That’s what im getting. This is so interesting to think about.

Also the way new characters are getting introduced is bit too fast for my liking ngl, i wanna explore the existing dynamics more. Like wtf is going on between jiji and momo. I think to a degree, Jiji likes Momo but not as seriously as Okarun when it comes to romantic love. Unlike Okarun Jiji is great when it comes to communication and open emotions so he seem more forward with his feelings than Okarun but he loves everyone there. Idk, i want their relationship to be a more profound part of the storyline.
Lits of mysteries surrounding that hot count too. Also i feel a showdown between beloved Turbo granny and Count Saint Germain coming up since some unaddressed feelings seem to be in the mix between them.

I often see poor ml’s like him trying to be more positive, be kind, be hardworking and all that in these stories which is admirable. But often times in reality i generally see the opposite take place.

Love how simple but realistic the romance is. The story and the characters are not dramatic, or gaggy like bl’s tend to be, it’s not overtly romantic or exaggerated and they even show all the nitty gritty of having anal sex!!
Im also unusually attracted to Kuroiwa’s body. It just looks so real and manly. His behavior too, once he realized his feelings for Asako, he did not do all the unnecessary jumble and self denial that ppl do and straight up told him about it. I like that a lot.
