Didn't include the context in the translation, but basically Jiwon overheard everything his mother was saying about him. It was mentioned in the comments earlier, that Jiwon wears 2 masks, his mask at university and his "Alex" mask. He hasn't any connections with people in his adult life who know who Jiwon is. Therefore the latest chapter shows that his masks have been a coping mechanism that he used, not just in response to being cheated on by his ex, but something he has been utilising since childhood, which gave him the sense that no one love him for himself, and that he can't be loved as Jiwon, only his false images of trying to fit into roles that others want.
