I think of this story like this, they were both fine doing bdsm until the seme finally got sick of it. He got sick of the uke liking so much pain that he started to hurt him even more. It wasn't an issue for the uke tho, because he really likes the pain but the thing is, he can see that the seme is no longer enjoying it. He can feel that the seme is starting to despise him for who he really is. That's why he decided they should just break up because they both couldn't figure themselves out. They tried normal sex because it is what the seme really want, then got separated afterwards. But then, they both realize how much they got really attached to each other and started to feel that they do love the other party.
