What I think happend… In the first loop or the first loops MC helped ML and now ML feels grateful for him and probably fell for him after a while … And the Trigger for restarting the loop is ML… His scars would make sense then, literally a scar on the neck looks like a wound you could die from … He cares that MC survives cause if he dies it just restarts, but if MC dies then ML will loose him forever … That’s my theory
