So Akira was like 15 when the brother’s friend, who was like 21 years old, took advantage of him? That is an actual child. A 15 year old boy is maybe beginning puberty… but then lots of places say 13 year olds can marry adults with their parents permission so I think the people who make laws around the world are just nasty.
But yea, tbh I’m not surprised when it comes to yaoi. I think that more often than not it’s super problematic. It’s more rare to find a healthy dynamic or characters in yaoi. But tbh I’m kinda tired of media making queer stories that revolve around toxicity/abuse/other unhealthy dynamics. But then I remind myself that it’s Japanese, and they probably have lots of stigma and prejudice towards the queer community and probably can only understand it through that “tragic” lens….
Well, if we give him the benefit of the doubt… Yui probably doesn’t have much (if any) experience with normal/healthy interpersonal relationships (platonic or non-platonic), and he probably doesn’t have a ton of self-esteem/self-confidence either. So, he probably would need things spelled out for him clearly.
Yui was even surprised because he thought they didn’t intend for him to be in the picture with everyone while they were out for bbq, even though he was clearly part of that interaction.
