this is going according to the novel so, following the next chapter, we will get a massive flashback, explaining what happened all those years ago, when the Yiling Patriarch died. Prepare tissues, cause you will need them. At least I can't help crying everytime I read this part.
His whole story up until the end makes me sad. Especially near the end when he finds out about what happened with the baby. That part makes me so emotional.
