Meh, they are all aware that Sakai likes them both. Who says they're not being loved equally. Kitada seemed perfectly fine with being needed and having Sakai at his side, and able to continue having sexual relations. Nishi wanted priority, and thats what he got. Sakai just needed the two of them around, and thats what he got.
Seems like a pretty good polyamorous relationship to me. No, they don't all have to date each other. They both "date" Sakai. And they understand each other's "role" to the wellbeing of said relationship. Polyamory isnt for everyone. But ultimately Nishi realized how much Sakai neeed Kitada and was okay with it. He didn't like it at first, but then he realized how important Kitada was for them all. They are ALL okay with the open relationship.

I was about to go on a full on rant about how the 1st story wasn't a 'Love Triangle' but a polyamorous relationship. This kind of relationship isn't for everyone- that is understandable and TBH this story is SO much better than some threesome fics I've read *cough* Choco Strawberry Vanilla *cough*. Reason being, like you said, they understand what the other meant to Sakai and was ok with it.
