Ikr I feel like it’s been so long I forget details. But basically Xinlu did a bunch of things that bothered him, and im sure I’m missing some but here are some:

he didn’t seem to care about how Taeui felt. Whenever tay tried to be honest, Xinlu was overbearing, even pushing him down at some point and Taeui didn’t like feeling forced. Taeui had this gentle image of Xinlu and gets continuously surprised when Xinlu shows his true self that is aggressive and violent. he slept with Ilay (they both said it doesn’t matter to them, but it did matter to Taeui and it hurt him), it’s brought up a few times by Tay cuz he was really hurt by it and seemed to doubt Xinlu’s intentions and personality.

I didn't finish the novel yet, but not so far

They needed the mc stop developing his empire, because he was too far ahead of the others. They knew as per analises that if they made him fall out with the duke this would be enough to him to leave the game for some time. The reason why he needed slow down his empire growth was that in the end all the empires need to be equally strong to face a big threat and not only one of them be strong and the others weak. This big threat will appear once some empire finish to conquer the test tower and as the things were developing so far the mc empire would make to this point alone and it would be the only one with some ability to face the threat, but one kingdom is far from enough to this. So they needed he let the others empires catch up with his in strenght and as all this was happening still in beta phases they couldn't just go and tell him directly about all this since for him that was just a game.
