Really trying hard to stay invested but the bottom is so unpleasant. Which I usually wouldn’t mind (who doesn’t like a cute, moody guy?) but these first few chapters haven’t really given me a hook or push to find out more about this man. He’s not interesting. He’s not abrasive in a “dark and mysterious” way, he’s abrasive in a “jerk who cut you off in traffic and you hope to never see again” way. Why should the reader want to know more about this person? Making a character nearly expressionless but still engaging is already a hard thing to pull off well, but making him an ass on top of that, AND barely giving him any background/ contextual motivation to start off? Taaaall order. Very tall. The next few chapters will have to do a lot of work to convince the readers why this man is worth the time. We’ll see. We’ll see….

A “dumbass uke” story thats actually not completely wrecked. How unexpected. He’s still a little annoying, but he actually gets hit with a reality check pretty quickly and is forced to reflect on his brainlessness. He quickly makes an effort to change and grow as a person, doesn’t blame others, and takes accountability. Already better than 70% of the “aloof” ukes on this site. lol
Idk, I think it’s a little weird how two of the friends keep quiet/ pretended they didn’t already know the supervisor guy when the black haired guy introduced him. Black haired guy mentions that he sometimes feels left out of friend group and that they keep things from him, and they kind of continue to do so until the end of the manga. It’s never really addressed, which is frustrating. And if supervisor and the bar-owner friend are ex fuckbuddies, that’s even weirder. You can’t keep stuff like that a secret man, that’s bad bro code.
The love never truly feels genuine/ mutual when one party is constantly pressured into accepting the feelings of the other. It ends up feeling like an obligation, or a relationship they were forced to accept under the circumstances.
“You took him on” “you have to” “he doesn’t have any friends” “you have to love him. It’s your fate” “just like him back already, I won’t forgive you if you dont ” Yiiiiikes. How can you even be satisfied knowing that your partner had to be convinced and pushed into choosing you, like a shady car at a crooked salesman’s shop? Hardly romantic!
