In any type of competitive fighting you fight against people who are of similar size and weight to you so you don't have some 250 lb person fighting a 150 lb person. Each weight class is within 10lbs for example middleweight is over 175lbs to 185lbs. So everyone who's weight lands in that area are qualified to fight eachother.
