I think they followed the novel in the beginning but then changed up the plot

yeah… prepare yourself for:

(a) intense gaslighting [Woojin will get caught kind of having his feet in two boats (the sister of his dead fiancé), I think he does sleep with her while he’s with Haewon but I’m not 100% sure. Anyway Haewon finds out because the woman’s mom mentions it in passing but Woojin gaslights the fuck out of him into thinking it’s not the whole story and that it’s his fault or something]

(b) intense emotional manpiulation [kind of like point A but after Haewon confronts him about the cheating thing Woojin dumps him and then fucks with him emotionally by being unavailable and stuff, which causes Haewon to be miserable. Also during their relationship after they get officially together, Woojin will continue to manipulate Haewon emotionally because he’s trying to ‘correct’ his behavior (threatening to leave, telling Haewon’s things are his fault, etc)]

(c) prostitution (not applied to the main characters) [long story short Woojin provides ‘entertainment’ to people in power and it’s usually sexual in nature. Woojin himself doesn’t actively participate he is the one who arranges everything. Some nasty stuff happens, like pissing on the victim]

(d) gangrape (not applied to the main characters) [this is what happened to Haewon’s friend and why he killed himself - Woojin took him to the sex bunker and let people have their way with him, although weirdly enough in his POV he thought it was consensual….]

(e) cheating [like I mentioned before Woojin is kind of seeing his ex fiancé’s sister but it’s only to get in with that powerful family so he doesn’t really have any feelings for her - still I think it’s implied they fuck in one scene. Also in the sex bunker one of the people in power make a pass at Haewon and Woojin gets mad forcibly kisses him (?) which was kind of funny lmao]

Oh my god How did author-nim fall in love with the novel?? I thought it would be like some character development type shit. Thanks for the heads up

from what i remember it’s because the friend’s dad is pretty powerful so woojin wanted to get blackmail on the friend to manipulate him (and by extension his father). but woojin also thought that the friend *wanted* to have sex with the people in the bunker (woojin is a psychopath who sometimes doesn’t understand emotions). i’m not defending woojin since he’s still pretty terrible and still was planning to blackmail him with the footage (he recorded it i think? maybe?) and still did not care in the slightest when the friend killed himself but yeah
