as a volleyball player myself, haikyuu always hit close to home. i loved it a lot until i received a major injury, after that i couldn't bring myself to read. just when i thought i was on my way to being a professional, i realized i wasn't so lucky and cursed everything because of it.
i decided to pick it up again this year and i was reminded of those days i played volleyball. in those days, volleyball wasn't just a sport to me, but it was my life. somehow i wish i could play more, but seeing how not everyone in the manga didn't end up as professionals, i realize that it wasn't the end.
not all volleyball players get to play until they're professionals, but once you have a team who treats you like family, once you score a point in a game, and once you feel the overwhelming satisfaction of bringing your team to victory, volleyball will always have a place in your heart.
so up to this day im grateful i became a volleyball player and experienced being on the top of my game even if it was for a short time. thank you furudate for making me remember that volleyball meant so much to me.
that gif was the cherry on top
