As someone with APD, he's just an asshole that doesn't excuse anything he's just trying to manipulate the me into feeling sympathy for him. I hate the "willful negligence" speech because no, people with low empathy still don't go around setting people's houses on fire for funsies, especially if there is someone inside and they are aware of this.
is there a spectrum to it if you don’t mind me asking? i feel he’s probably not just that either since he did mention he’s undiagnosed.
*spoiler alert* and yes you’re right, he mentioned himself in next chapters that he used this sob story to manipulate inseob into feeling sympathy and staying with him yikes
Yes it can range from mild to severe, and many people with severe ASPD can become criminals out of a lack of care for others rights, but typically if they are raised right, even if they don't understand or feel that other's lives are important, they can still take the necessary precautions they need to live normally. For example most people don't get into fights because fighting is wrong and they don't want to hurt other people, but for me I think it's just too troublesome to get into fights because I would be bored in a jail cell, not because I care about if the other person gets hurt or not. I can still recognize when people are sad, even if I can't empathize or sympathize with them I still know the correct action to take is to try and comfort them.
Is there a novel?
Yeah. Here you go in case you ask:

Her revenge is... Giving him everything he ever wanted? What did she think she accomplished by making sure he won't grieve for a hundred years after his boyfriend dies by just making him fully human?? He was already known for being bored of everything in the ocean too cmon of ur gonna make a villain I want you to go all in this is like it Ursula made Ariel hydrophobic if she didn't kiss the prince in time, you're giving her exactly what she wants. Kinda disappointed in the ending but the side stories are cute
Hm, sure it’s everything he wanted but he also loved swimming in the sea. He may not have said it but Minu felt how devastated Yujin was. His love for Minu was just stronger than whatever feelings he had for the sea, and he got what he wanted in the end anyways. Eunha got the revenge she wanted as well, which was for Yujin to go through and understand heartbreak by cursing Minu. She also took away his life as a merman.

I'm not a big shounen fan, but this has crawled it's way up to being one of my favorite stories ever. Like I actually get all giddy and kick my feet in the air whenever Chung Myung stops being silly, locks tf in, kicks his opponents ass, and continues being a goofball. The art is so beautiful and conveys the action so well, I usually feel like action scenes are drawn very "crowded" of that makes sense to anyone else but these are very easy to understand and animate in you head as you read. And I love his stupid ass smug and ugly expressions like the writers and artist deserve so much love for creating this gremlin of a character and amazing story.
