Usually first floor aint for bedroom and there’s only room for serving guests and doing chores such as kitchen and laundry or even maid and butler room, so since the stairs broke, theres no room left. I guess ian is accompanying the butler room and kate is in the maid room and since its a house in a town it aint that big. And its improper to let someone sleep in the serving room as it maybe used for ian’s workroom (cuz there’s no way they’ll entertain a guest since there’s no guest) and whats left is kitchen and maybe laundry room is in bathroom so how do you sleep in a bathroom and that’s that.
