Seolwoo doesn't hate the detective for killing his dad in self defense though, he thanks him. From Seolwoo's perspective, the detective was his "light", who presumably saved him from his dad further abusing him or killing him, after he saw his dad kill his mum. When Seolwoo was first rescued by the detective, he displayed lots of signs of neglect, the detective's intervention and that he had such an ongoing relationship to him isn't a shallow plot, whereas let's be real the vampire & detectives is.
It really just comes off as you lot aren't understanding the plot and are misrepresenting characters just because you don't like them.
