Okay so this is how I understood it.
When they died in their first life somehow Humin was able to make a world for them and they were friends, but this was in his mind. When he woke up as the book Humin what had really happened is that Ihoen (or however you spell it) turned time back. The world Humin created was a mechanism to cope with what had happened. But I'm not sure how time was turned back or if I'm right. That's just how I understood it. Hope it helps or makes some sense
The fan theories in the comments are making this more interesting than it is ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
I'm sure there's a yuri somewhere about the heroine falling for the villainess... but damn, the doomed part just makes it bitter sweet... I love it T.T

According the last raws uke indeed regressed in time, I think in the past time line the misunderstansing wasn't cleared up, so ML treat him like trash, raping him, imprisonnhim, breakingbhis ankle. Then ML got killed /stabbed/ and die, then uke comit suicide and come back in the time. (Raws are till ch 40.)

My honest review... it was a trauma dump. At least the dog didn't die ; u ; it was a realistic ending but a bit unsatisfying... like the dad doesn't get punishment or something
There is still one chapter left and the story actually wants to show that too: not everyone has to have karma even if they did bad things.

In the novel ending, the author Reeze and cliff do get married. In the side stories, they end up getting divorced due to a crime she commits and she’s sent away to a monastery. There was no og reeze in the novel. Cliff truly liked the author, and was heartbroken. But he moved on eventually and happily married another girl later on.
