I love how the decision that seemed insignificant to the prince basically cost him him the crown. If he would have just stayed with his fiancee he probably would have been king. I also love how all the characters so far are reasonable. The sister is terrible because she is spoiled and does not know better. The crown prince broke the engagement because the younger sister is prettier and should be as capable (she's not) as the older sister. He was just choosing for the better of the two evils because he just needed the pedigree to become king. The oldest sister just wanted love and recognition from her family and fiancee. All the characters action make sense. They are not placed to move the plot. The only characters whose hatred is unexplained is the parents. Why do they hate their oldest daughter so much?

I wouldn’t say they hate our mc, they are indifferent to her. Which in a way is much worse because it means our MC is closer to an object in their eyes (which is only used for their benefit) then someone sharing the same blood.
The reason they didn’t press the MCs poisoning was because it was caused by another duke family. Telling us to the MCs parents her life isn’t more important then their relationship with another powerful house. And anyway she survived, even if she did die they have another daughter who they like much more anyway.
The reason they let her be a dragons bride even though everyone new it would just result in her death, is because whatever girl is chosen their family gets a huge amount honour and prestige, “they made a sacrifice for this country” and all that jazz. And since the crown prince chose their favoured daughter why wouldn’t they let the now useless puppet jump?
Their indifference is what made our MC so desperate for their love. If they hated her and expressed it, I believe she would’ve been a different character.
Because of their indifference we can see why our mc reacts in certain ways,
she never want to be a pain and ask for things = she afraid if she pushes too much it will cause their indifference to topple onto the side of hate
I just think indifference makes more sense when describing their feelings for our mc

I still dont understand why theyre so indifferent to her while at the same time so doting of the other. Like what is it about MC that makes them think that shes just an object while her sister, who is so damn useless, is given everything she wants even if her demands are unreasonable (because lets face it, asking the Prince if he's willing to switch fiance is still a pretty bold move). I mean true she lives to serve them (she says so herself) but if her parent are capable of loving the other stupid child, why not her even for a bit?

I didn’t read that anywhere but it can be assumed,
The prince saw the two as equals
Both dukes daughters that would help him get the throne,
He said himself that he assumed both their attitudes and knowledge would be the same, just because they’re sisters
So one of the few reasons he he could’ve chose to ditch our lovely mc was because her bratty sister was more his type.

I assumed that he chose the little sister because the father obviously loves her more, so if the prince marries her he could have even more support from their family. Also, yeah like the prince said and you said, he assumed the two would have a similar attitude and knowledge. But this is just my assumption, unfortunately the topic isn't really focused on it so we do not know the full details and I have not read the novel so I do not know if the author wrote more about it

LOL. omg, all the nutrients must have gone down in her boobs and didn't went up the brain.
Maybe he chose the spoiled shit cuz she's the younger one. And he thought she has a humble position being the second daughter with no accomplishmnts or expectations. Or lemme just say that her sister passed a quiz with perfect score while the sister just wrote her name without answering.
Sorry i'm bad at explaining

Even tho this is fantasy I think there's a bit of realism in it back in medieval times when a high ranking family's first child was a girl they where raised to be political pawns ( basically objectet/money ) that would gain them more prestige ( I.e. Selling the child to the royal family for better prestige/having connections to the royal family) so if u look at it from the perspective not being emotionally attached is a good thing to them cuz they might have to marry her to some one they hate and thus would also explain why they don't care if she becomes the " dragons bride " they would still gain prestige as the family that sacrificed the oldest daughter the the kingdom would prosper but that's just my opinion and in not saying what they did is right but hope this helps u a bit ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
That was kinda stupid. What could she possibly do about the sword?
