A very old letter" Women are property and are exchanged like objects as gifts,
Don't get married " Read by a old man, crying, wearing a simple kimono by the lake ml had shown to fl with fireflies as if read as many times they could have read it, tattered in a envelope.
He says to himself " And yet I did it myself, I fell in love with someone I shouldn't have" Lonely and alone

I read a theory saying it's sml not ml and it makes sense. Since both ml and fl don't have have anyone who would write a letter like that to them nor does it make sense if fl wrote it to ml.
Since sml could as well start dating that girl this letter might as well be from her to sml but it still doesn't make sense.
And ya u r totally right but being left alone to live only with the memories of the dead is so heart wrenching. U can't help but miss that person every single min in ur life.
Hey someone who knows this stuff alot better, I am asking u.
Is their anything like not using those things on different person than the intended one like that offends them or something. His expression at the end was a bit confusing.
The issue was not the item. It's her hurting herself. She whipped her thigh to check how painful it would be to use and he didn't like seeing her do that. Just because he enjoys feeling pain doesn't mean he enjoys seeing her hurt herself. It just goes against the grain.
Ohh.... Thanks for solving the mystery
