Jiheon is a neglected child, idk what he would be jealous of and I also felt like your guess is not far off. But as far as I know, it was supposed to be Jiheon who should be kidnapped and not Wooju (there is no reason to kidnap Wooju, his parents are just normal citizens).
So...considering Professor Cha is already a professor at their age, I guess he should not be a kid by the time of Wooju's kidnapping and Professor Cha either hate Jiheon or his father to want to do that. Maybe deep resentment for his mother or he's also a neglected child.
