Don’t know if there’s a bad back story of the sibling relationship or if he has just carried a torch so long for his b-in-law that it became an obsession and he’s upset that his in-law is stuck in the past. It’s not very healthy but everyone has their own way and pace of grieving and living on. The nice interpretation is that he has misplaced anger on his dead sister for her widow not being able to move on. We‘ll see how it develops I guess
